So lately I’ve been reading again after 22+ years on one of my favorite themes/projects: OBE and Lucid Dreaming. The following is a detail description of what happened to me on January 15, 2013 at around 5:50 am.
I was in the room 1926 of the Marriott Biscayne Bay hotel in Miami, Florida attending a meeting with my team for a pre-kick off planning session, for a major account in the region. For the past 2 to 3 weeks I’ve been reading again about how to set the right conditions for an OBE. In one of the materials that I’ve been reading from Robert Monroe, a long time veteran on this field, it describes how your body/mind when it vibrates at a certain frequency, it can induce one of this altered states. Mr. Monroe developed with his company a certain sound/frequency that he called Hemi-sync and I’ve downloading some of these “music” files or sound bytes from youtube. Turns out that after I’ve been listening to some of those, when I go to bed at night and during the day, I sometimes feel like the floor is moving or shaking as if one of those big trucks is passing by your home and it shakes the whole ground and house.
That specific morning I was waking up and decided to doze off (Concentrate/Relax) to see if I can bring about one of those altered states when your mind starts vibrating. I know that I was totally awake but with my eyes closed, when my body started sensing a vibration that was originating within me (not uncommon since I started listening to some of those sound bytes) but was also being fed from the room’s air conditioning fans that seemed to shake lightly the whole room. Actually the day before this event I remember asking my colleague if he felt that the room we were in, was shaking a bit, and my boss actually commented that he did feel that the air conditioning fans were vibrating the floor, which actually made me feel good that it was not all on my head.
Laying there with my eyes closed I started to feel the vibration getting a little more intense or more drawn to it, meaning as if my focus was more on the vibration. I consciously made my self relax more, I was afraid that if I got too excited everything will stop. Then a strange but familiar feeling came to me that it is difficult to describe, like all sounds stop and you get swoosh into a different “frequency”, more like if you are riding a wave in the ocean and all of a sudden you are in another wave, like a different phase of the wave. I know I was conscious because I remember that the feeling was so familiar that I made a mental note to remember why. Several days later I realized that it was not that I had done this before, maybe as a child, which was one of my explanations; but it was the feeling when I get anesthetized during a surgery (endoscopy or colonoscopy) when the doctor says “ok, you are going to sleep now” and you start feeling drowsy and then you go.
I was laying sideways, as it is my most comfortable position, when I got the sensation that I started feeling very light, and my feet felt like they were elevating. I can’t remember if I was seeing my feet raise up or that I had the feeling they were raising up. What I do know is that I knew my eyes were closed but the room was there and I was able to see it with my eyes closed almost perfectly. There was a haze to it, like the sun had not raised completely but I clearly depicted a fan almost above my head, actually more like diagonal from my field of view, like about 20 degrees. I remember thinking that I was concern that if I kept raising that I will hit the fan. As I was thinking that, I realized that in that room I didn’t remember seeing a fan, and it was strange. Because of that thought, I had the instinct of opening my real eyes to peek and see if there was a fan. That’s when everything stopped and I was drawn back to my normal state in matter of milliseconds, I remember saying to myself: “why did I have to think that?” complaining that my instinct made me stop this sensation. I immediately open my eyes and realized that there was no fan in the room.
I was super excited about the fact that it didn’t take me long, I was thinking I had to wait, even years before experiencing something. The fact that a fan was not there and that I felt like I was having an OBE didn’t compute that well. My doubts starting increasing because, from all the literature that I’ve been reading, everyone steps out of their body’s and they can see themselves in the same place. However, the feeling that I was totally consciously awake was so real that it didn’t make sense to me until I read another comment from a forum on this topic where the subject explained that she had to focus that the OBE happens at the same time. The story was about a woman who decided to visit her love, as an Astral projection or OBE, in another part of the country. When she went there she saw the family doing certain things. When she spoke to her Love after her OBE on the phone, he said that the events were exactly as she described but that it happened many hours before. Then she recommended that when doing this, you should some what “ask” or set your “internal travel “clock” to the same time.
I then wonder if maybe the experience was indeed a real OBE, but in a different time when the hotel had fans in their rooms. For those who know me you can attest that I have a clear understanding that there are so many things that I want to believe in, but until I totally experience them, I will not vow that they are real or exist. I know that your mind can play tricks on me and that my experience was probably made it up in my mind. And that’s just fine, I don’t care to know the difference as long as I am able to experience them. And this my friends and family was real to me!!
If someone reads this and is an experienced Astral traveller and you may have an answer, please let me know if my theory is correct. It would be nice to find if this was the case. I may call the hotel one day and confirm this fact.
What do you think real or not?
